Phoebe Kemp
Phoebe Kemp is a trans, queer disabled theatre and movement director. They are drawn to work that uplifts marginalised voices and explores the politics of joy. As a wheelchair user, they are particularly interested in stories about disability and ableism. They have collaborated with theatre companies and venues across the UK, including CRIPtic Arts, Frozen Light, Trans What You Will Theatre and Bristol Old Vic. Their landmark production of Twelfth Night, the first all-trans Shakespeare production in the UK, was streamed to over 2000 people internationally.
Residency plans:
Phoebe will be working with writer Han Morgan and composer Ellian Showering to begin development on a Peter Pan prequel. The play will centre around lost children who end up in Neverland through the lens of trans and disabled identity. This residency will be to test some of the concepts, including integrated BSL, developing song ideas, and to gather material for a first draft.
