Alfie Heffer

Alfie Heffer is an artist, theatre maker and producer from Sheffield. He has received funding from Arts Council England’s Develop Your Creative Practice (DYCP) to support this residency, alongside partnership with LEVEL Centre and Sheffield Theatres.

Alfie believes that all people are creative and with the right tools anyone can achieve their creative potential. In this residency he will explore sonic art and sound design, with the aim of facilitating and opening up imaginative space for PMLD participants to fill with their creative ideas and artistic expression. His aim is to embed sound design within early stages of performance and installation making, creating a deeper and responsive collaboration with PMLD participants.

Previously, Alfie has done projects with young people, adults with PMLD, in community settings and with artistic collaborators. At the core of his practice is collaboration and inclusivity. The projects he does aim to take audiences out of ordinary art experiences –  he has shown work in theatres, galleries, on the internet and in adventure playgrounds, chip shops and disused buildings. His latest theatre show, ‘Person Spec’ by Forest Sounds Theatre, received four stars in The Guardian.
