George Stone
The Blanket Fort Club makes joyfully inclusive, sensory immersive theatre and installations for families, rich in authentic dramaturgy, environmental immersion and co-creation. The company is led by George Stone, Artistic Director, a dramaturg and director with extensive experience working with people with SEND and PMLD, who places children and young people at the heart of the creative process.
All productions are responsive commissions and have been Arts Council England funded, including the earlier iteration of Quest for a Starry Night Flurry, award-winning Last Unicorn Airways which toured to over 40 venues across the UK, and upcoming works The Colour of Impossible Things and The Snow Queen of Spitsbergen. The Blanket Fort Club is a proud delivery partner of Children’s Capital of Culture.
Residency plans:
During the residency The Blanket Fort Club will be working in the Digital Space to build and test the immersive technology infrastructure that will bring the Fort’s sentience and responsiveness to life, embedding sound, light and responsive elements into the sensory dramaturgy. There will also be further development of the Fort’s rhizomatic plateaus and sensory transitions, a key aspect of the experience. The residency will involve technical mentoring, and will include collaborative sessions with LEVEL Makes, whose engagement will directly inform this iteration of the work. The two weeks will serve as the primary R&D period ahead of future exhibitions.
