LEVEL HED Presents

A showcase of work produced by LEVEL HED participants.
LEVEL HED is our creative group for young people who are home educated or out of mainstream education. The programme has been running monthly since September 2024. Each week focuses on building confidence, decision-making, and learning through creative skills.
This exhibition features a series of printworks designed by the participants, as well as a film presenting other work created during the programme.
Led by artist and educator Abbie Canning, LEVEL HED brought together a range of expert facilitators who each worked on different creative themes with the participants.
Made possible thanks to funding from Derbyshire Dales Council for Voluntary Service as part of a wider Public Health programme.
LEVEL HED programme:
The LEVEL HED programme runs for a three day block, once a month. Each block is built around the young people involved and their specific requirements, interweaving their thoughts and views throughout the narrative of the project and allowing them to work together naturally.
LEVEL HED also engages parents and carers in a secondary programme of activity, giving them a space to build a support network and learn creative skills together.

Lead facilitator: Abbie Canning
Abbie Canning an artist, educator, independent curator and producer with over 20 years of experience in the creative sector.
Abbie has managed, produced and delivered projects in education, health and community settings across the UK and overseas.
As an interdisciplinary artist Abbie works across a wide variety of media. Her socially engaged practise frequently explores creative digital technologies in a visual arts context, seeking to merge analogue arts and craft activity with the digital world.
