A Necklace of Stars

28 September  – 5 January

During the pandemic, 2020-2022, older people in Derbyshire joined together to make A Necklace of Stars. Their embroideries, poems and lullabies are now touring the county and are coming to Level in September 2023!

The project celebrates childhood and the night sky in words, song and stitches and is a testimony to the power of human connection and creativity in the face of lockdowns and isolation.

The exhibition features a quilt of embroidered stars and a catalogue of poems and lullabies.

A Necklace of Stars is an Arts Council England supported collaboration between Arts Derbyshire, DCC Public Health, Derbyshire Library Services and artists Lois Blackburn, Philip Davenport and Matt Hill.
