Creators: LEVEL Centre Youth Collective

LEVEL Centre Youth Collective is a creative group for young people who are neurodivergent, have autism and / or ADHD.

The group meets weekly to explore a range of different contemporary arts experiences away from the pressures of school or home, giving young people space and time to develop their interests and confidence.

Participants work with different artists, materials and digital equipment, and take part in bigger projects which are shaped by themselves.

Lead Facilitator: Imogen Ashby

Imogen is a contemporary performance maker and facilitator with over 30 years experience of making theatre with people in community settings. Her work is accessible and fun and she holds onto the idea that theatre can change lives in the way that it changed hers. Imogen creates safe spaces where everyone can be themselves and where we can play and experiment together. 

Water and Wellbeing Project

‘Water and Wellbeing’ is a two-year funded programme supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Our Youth Collective will be exploring local Derbyshire Dales heritage while celebrating traditional craftsmanship in a thoroughly modern way.

The ‘Water and Wellbeing’ project will delve into Derbyshire’s rich history which revolves around water – from the development of the mills to the growth of tourism. The creative practices they’ll experience with our artists and tutors link directly to this, and the group will explore how to use techniques such as traditional printing and claywork to interpret their own vision of what the local area means to them today. This will inspire a display of work by Youth Collective, held at LEVEL Centre and Bakewell Old House Museum!
